Honey 1 Reply

With the flu season coming up-honey is a great way to soothe your throat, but also help ward off a cold or flu. Choose raw honey when you can-make sure it is from your area. The second I feel a cold…

I published an online article about Castile soap. Check it out at http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/2191633/castile_soap_the_natural_jackofalltrades.html

If you don't use Castile soap then you need to start! It is superb!

I'm going to put my lil foot down about recycling myself - not sure HOW well this will work (as I'm moving to a new place and all) but it's worth a shot. I've decided to recycle all of my plastic, glass, and paper (the glass and paper depending on it's type I even try to upcycle) and when I move into my house (in about 6 months) I want to start a compost heap - between all of that the only thing that should be going in the garbage should be much less comparitively! *crosses fingers*

that is an amazing amount of money saved. We have stores that are just beginning to give rewards for using reusable bags. People are just beginning to get more serious about recycling..I love everyone's ideas of how to save and re-use things.
What a great topic!

Yeah, Tomo, that is scary. Good grief.

I love this Living Green community! I live in Portland which is very environmentally friendly and most people I know are very green. We have natural food stores all over the town, too.
I've been using the natural soap for many many years because I'm sensitive to chemicals in soaps and detergent. Sometimes it's hard when I work on a client with a strong perfume of detergent! After the session, my hands smell like their clothes!! That's very scary, isn't it?

People, visit treehugger.com to read up on the latest and greatest in green living! It isn't my blog, but I wish it were.

I am happy to report water no longer fills the street gutters to overflowing in Hemet, California. Every morning people would water the daylights out of their lawns to the point the gutters would flood; not smart in a desert community.

Within the last year the city has cracked down on these offenders by creating heavy fines for water waste. As a result, there are far fewer pristine green laws, far more dead lawns painted green, and the street gutters are dry!

You are all so creative and have great ideas.
Our town now provides a large separate garbage can for recycling every week. Since using it, our regular trash has decreased.
Several of the grocery stores offer 4cents (each bag you bring in) off your grocery bill if you bring in cloth bags for your groceries.
After thinking about all of the plastic bottled water that people go through, I now carry a glass bottle of water, which is safer too.

Hello! I'm the rabid recycler in my family. Relatives are learning fast they had better toss their bottles and cans into the recycle bin or they will get a lecture from me. I finally, FINALLY, turned my sister to the idea that turning off the electronic toys when done with them and then unplugging said toys is the smart idea. What got her was the lower rate on her electric bill, but it is a start.

Heck! While in kindergarten all those many years ago I would scour the playground for trash. I was given an award for my actions, I am proud to say. These days I try to reuse everything: used tea bags are turned into compost, empty boxes that contained tea bags are now clocks, and round oatmeal containers and milk cartons become plant pots and bird feeders. My dove Emma nests in an oatmeal container I cut in half and then hooked to the inside of her cage. Life is so much simpler and less complicated when we live the green life.

Wow I didnt know that about soaps, but it makes perfect sense! I have used natural soap since hmmm, since the end of last year. I just love it and when I purchase a "loaf" from the company that makes it,,, I can cut my own bars off it, and it is actually cheaper then if i were to buy the commercial soaps.

Better for the environment and better for us, and cheaper, how can we loose on that one, right?
